I love The Downtown Fiction, and that is a FACT!

The+Downtown+Fiction+IMG_6717small.jpg (500×333)
My friends, this is some lovely people known as The Downtown Fiction!

The Downtown Fiction is a  band from Fairfax, V.A., formed in the summer of 2008 by Cameron Leahy (guitar/vocals) and Eric Jones (drums). The two posted three demo songs on the band’s MySpace profile(which is now dead) and quickly built a following and added David Pavluk (bass/background vocals) to the line up. After a year of touring, The Downtown Fiction announced their signing with Photo Finish / Atlantic Records and have been is many shows since.

Now, they are a boy band, but not the cheesy ones that everyone obsesses over(no offense if you like these kinds of bands).  But they are a boy band, so yes, their songs are based on...you guessed it, girls.  But I tend to change the words and change it to fit a guy if I'm feeling the same way.

These boys LOVE meeting fans.  It is there favorite part of touring, I would know, I asked him.  Yes, I have met them, and very recently too!  December 6th to be exact (I'm not crazy, I swear).  Our conversation, which is a bit long, went something long the lines of this:

Cameron(TDF): Hi, how are you?
Me: Good, you guys were awesome!
TDF: I'm glad you liked it.
Me:  You guys love touring, huh?
TDF:  Oh yeah, but meeting you guys is the best.
*A little later, while singing my ticket*
Me: Oh, I forgot my number, can I have yours?
TDF:*After laughing for about a minute, which was insanely cute* I-I can't give you my number...
Me: Awh, please!
TDF: I-I can't.  You want a picture?

And I took that, hey, I was the best I could get.  I also got a hug from two of the three (Eric Jones was not there, Acoustic Show)

There songs have shaped my outlook on life, that sometimes, you need to get away from everything.

This song for this week is 'I Just Wanna Run'-The Downtown Fiction
I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out
I just wanna run

I just wanna run
I'm out here all alone
I try to call your house
Can't reach you on the phone
I'll gather up the nerve
I'm packing up my bag
It's more than you deserve
Don't treat me like a drag

I'm feelin' like I keep on talking
I'm repeating myself,
My words lost all meaning
I keep talking
I repeat myself

I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out
I just wanna run (oh, oh, oh)
I just wanna run (oh, oh, oh)

Like a game of chess
I predict your move
I think I know you better
Better than you do
I'm sick of feeling cheap
Cheated and abused
Sick of losing sleep
Thinking about you

I'm feelin' like I keep on talking
I'm repeating myself,
My words lost all meaning
I keep talking
I repeat myself

I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out
I just wanna run (oh, oh, oh)
I just wanna run (oh, oh, oh) throw it away

I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out, out

I just wanna run

I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out

I just wanna run (Hey, hey, hey, hey,...)
I just wanna run (won’t find me out, won’t find me out)
I just wanna run

I gotta Love Like Woe on The Ready Set!

im-wrapped-up-jordan-witzigreuter-23085480-376-604.jpg (376×604)

This lovely little guy up there is Jordan Witzigreuter, from the band The Ready Set.

I thought the picture was appropriate, heading into the holiday season.  (If you'd like to hear the song related to the photo, look up Blizzard of '89 ft. Never Shout Never, who I reviewed last week!)

The Ready Set is an American Alternative-pop singer from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is the lead vocalist and sole member of the act, using a backup band while on tour.

Most people have heard his song, Love Like Woe, but then don't look him up.  He is a fantastic singer and performer, and meets his fans any chance he can.  I have seen him three times in concert and met him one.  He is so personable and is so funny to talk to.  He is really short, about 5'3" or maybe 5'4".

Jordan has 4 tattoos, all inspired by his favorite band, Copeland.  My favorite of his is the one on the side of his arm that reads 'stay what you are', which is what he lives by.

My favorite song by The Ready Set is Sixty-Eight, an acoustic song.  This song reminds me of one of my dear friends who died my seventh grade year, Hunter Mackenzie Pope.

Lyrics:
And one day the world’s gonna be alright,
And there will be no pain
Shut the ICU down tonight
'Cause everyone is safe
And I will overlook this operation by your side

'Cause we’re too young, we’re still kids
We’re too young, we’re still kids

I see your hearts get bigger when you lose your friends
And everyone’s around you saying that it’s not the end,
It's not the end

But you cried so hard,
And I watched you grow so strong
And I made you laugh in my arms
And your tear-stained shirt, you felt the snowflakes on your back

And you stood so proud
You had me wishing, wanting, begging for some words from you
And you smiled to the crowd,
It’s enough for now

’Cause we’re too young, we’re still kids
We’re too young, we’re still kids

Take a break from the mask,
You’ve done enough today
I saw you smiling like it’s all ok,
And it will be soon

This is a song for the boys and the girls I never met
And all my friends that I have had and I have kept
So get me down, down for the count
’Cause we are all the same, we’re all the same

It’s my job to keep you strong, I do it ’cause I’m supposed to
It’s my job to keep you strong, I do it ’cause I like to
It’s my job to keep you strong, I do it ’cause I’m told to.
It’s my job to keep you strong, I do it ’cause I love you
I do it 'cause I love you
I do it 'cause I love you
I do it 'cause I love you

On that day, we will be in charge
The weather’s always bright and 68 degrees

It's a beautiful song, here's a link in case you'd like to hear it.

Hope you enjoy this lovey boy and his music.

Stay More Than Alive(:

Never Shout Never! No, I'm not talking about Justin Bieber!

never-shout-never-large-msg-135457079271.jpg (580×387)

^Above is the musical genius, Christofer Drew Ingle.^
Singer of the band Never Shout Never, previously spelled Nevershoutnever!
I have been practically in love with him since introduced to him, in the early 2000's.
His music style has changed drastically, from cute, pop-country music, to more pop-alternative music and is slightly going back.  It is very different style that many people don't listen to.  It's the most different kind I listen to, it doesn't sound anything like any of the other bands I listen to.

His lyrics can be about anything. A lot of breakups and getting together with girls.  But they have ones where you start thinking about things you never would, or even a message.  He likes to get messages across.

Chris tends to smoke on stage, and yes, sometimes weed.  But no ones seems to mind. He'd rather not wear shoes and has over 20 tattoos and gauges, but I will always have a connection with him.

It has always been a dream to meet him, and I possibly could on Saturday, where I am seeing him in concert after not seeing him for two years.  He is an amazing artist live, and likes to tell us about when he wrote certain songs and why.

Here is the band members at the moment.
Other Than Christofer Drew who sings and plays either ukulele or guitar, the drum player is Nathan Ellison, the bass player is Taylor MacFee, the keyboard player is Dustin Dobernig, and when called for, Hayden Kaiser plays the tambourine or xylophone. Also ,Caleb Denison plays guitar.

He is also in another band, as a side project.  That is called EATMEWHILEIMHOT!, which has an COMPLETELY different style from Never Shout Never.

Now, a song and lyrics.  Never Shout Never has one song that I could listen to the rest of my life.  It tells you how to live life, all the time.  To Just Laugh.

I Just Laugh

My shadow followed when you walked away
And ever since that day
My life has never been the same
My friends all asked just why you went away
And all that I can say is that your heart was in another place

And all I know is when I move away
My heart will stay in this midwestern state

Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Darling, you're with him!
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Damn it's such a shame.
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
It's drivin' me insane
And ever since you went away,
My heart has never beat the same
And all that I can do
Is just laugh

California waits for me to make the change
So I can start a band
And party like it's summer
My friends all ask just why I want to change
And all that I can say is it's all because of her

And all I know is when I move away
My heart will stay in this midwestern state.

Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Darling, you're with him!
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Damn it's such a shame.
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
It's drivin' me insane
And ever since you went away,
My heart has never beat the same
And all I want to do
Is just go scream it in your face

Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Darling, you're with him!
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
Damn it's such a shame.
Whoa-oh, oh, oh!
It's drivin' me insane
And ever since you went away,
My heart has never beat the same
And all that I can do
Is just laugh.

Well, I could listen to all of The Summer EP by Never Shout Never, but I like this song the best.  They did just release a Christmas Album, The XMas EP, so if your getting in the christmas mood, go look for it.

Hope you like them, if you don't, thats fine.  But they will be my favorites.
